For the times we laughed and for the times we cried.
The nights spent talking until the morning sunrise,
knowing each other so well there wasn't one surprise.
That unspoken bond that both shared.
To know without words how each other cared.
The future, the unknown, deciding which road to take.
There was always trust, a give and take,
protecting each other from our own mistakes.
In my time of need you always knew what to say.
To bring me back and out of harms way.
To the plans we had and to the bets we made.
The bragging rights of who'll make the grade,
and the dues we knew were yet to be payed.
Always competing to be better than the other.
I always thought of you as my brother.
One split second in time you were gone in a flash.
Just the everyday news report of a common car crash
with streets littered with twisted metal and shattered glass.
The pain that cuts you deep to bone.
To know the rest of my life would be spent alone.
Hard to believe how many years have gone by.
The times I think of you I still laugh and cry,
for not a day goes by where I don't ask why.
Life seems to bring all good things to an end.
I guess in all, I just miss my friend.
